BREAKING: NDIS™️ Announces Pilot Program for High-Quality Support Coordination Providers
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has just launched a groundbreaking pilot program aimed at enhancing the quality of support coordination (COS) services for participants. Over the next 12 months, selected registered support coordination providers will be invited to participate in this pilot, which seeks to address concerns raised by stakeholders regarding the sustainability of high-quality support services.
Key Highlights:
- Focus on Quality Support Coordination: The pilot program will target registered providers of level 2 and 3 support coordination. To qualify, providers must demonstrate a strong track record of delivering high-quality services to a substantial number of participants.
- Financial Support for Providers:
Participating providers will receive funding to deliver quality support coordination services. This initiative comes in response to feedback from stakeholders who expressed concerns that providers prioritising quality were facing financial difficulties. By supporting these providers, the NDIS™️ aims to ensure that quality does not come at the expense of sustainability. -
Participant Choice and Control:
NDIS™️ participants will continue to exercise their choice and control by selecting the services that best meet their needs. The pilot will work in collaboration with participants, linking them to their preferred service providers, thus enhancing their engagement and satisfaction.
-
Improving Access to Quality Supports:
The selected providers will be instrumental in helping participants access high-quality, necessary supports, thereby improving overall outcomes for those involved in the pilot. The initiative is part of a broader effort by the NDIS™️ to ensure that all participants receive the support they need to live more independently and achieve their goals.
What Does This Mean for Providers?
For support coordination providers, this pilot presents a unique opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to quality and sustainability. Providers interested in participating should ensure their registration is up-to-date and that they have a proven record of delivering exemplary services. This pilot could set a new benchmark for support coordination across the sector, with implications for future funding and service delivery models.
For some registered COS and independent non-registered support coordinators this may put them out of business or reduce income for some disability services! There is an opportunity to recruit worker's with COS experience into your workforce, or for COS business owners to pivot their small businesses in other directions. Or wait and see the outcome of the pilot and be ready with a plan to grow or pivot!
Next Steps:
Registered providers meeting the criteria will be invited to apply for the pilot program in the coming weeks. The NDIS™️ encourages all eligible providers to consider this opportunity to contribute to a more sustainable and quality-focused support coordination landscape.
This initiative underscores the NDIS’s commitment to empowering participants and supporting high-quality service providers. It marks a significant step towards the goal of a more robust, sustainable and participant-centric NDIS™️.

Stay tuned for more updates as this pilot program unfolds and showcases its impact on the NDIS™️ community.
